Math Ref Fake Math Ref on the Android OS
Friday, February 5, 2010 at 1:37PM It's been recently brought to our attention that there's a version of Math Ref on the Android platform. The problem is we haven't finished our Android version yet. Yep, the screen shots below are not from our app, but from someone who took our content and made it. While we think this is incredibly flattering that someone did this, it's actually a bit of a problem for us. The biggest problem is that we can't control the quality of this app and we can't provide updates to the users. Also, if we get an email regarding the app or a problem with it, we can't provide any support and that's just not fair to you guys who expect that from us. The second issue we have with this is that in one screen shot you can see some advertising. We purposely removed the advertising from Math Ref and Math Ref Free because the community asked us to and for good reason. So for us, seeing those ads is like a slap at our users. Lastly, and the obvious issue we have is that someone completely stole our app. This isn't a pirating issue, that happens, people crack the app and we move on, not the end of the world. This on the other hand is someone stealing our content and calling it their own.
We are working on an Android version for both Math Ref and Math Ref Free. However, we're trying to get the next major update of the two out first before we finish this up. We'll post to the site letting you all know when it's ready, and we'll be providing details about the process of converting the app from the iPhone OS to Android OS.
