This was a minor update fixing a few crash bugs and typos, as well as adding some new content. We're working on a brand new version of both the Android and iOS versions of the app. Giving the app a new look and feel with some amazing new features. This update won't be ready until around November, as we're in the middle of a new project for both platforms. Here's the QR code for both versions:

It goes over some of the features we've added and shows off the new iPad User Interface that can be seen in the images in the previous post. We'd love to know what everyone thinks about this change, we think it's a huge improvement over the last version so give us your opinion. The iPhone version is getting some love too, we updated the images for the Retina display and gave it the same Copy/Paste functionality as the iPad. Along with that we did some bug fixing so hopefully there aren't anymore weird display issues. Feel free to comment below, to the left, or via Twitter or Facebook. If you're following us on Twitter or a Fan of us on Facebook, the links to the left make it easy to do that. That's all for now, have a great week everyone!

The new version of Math Ref for the iOS is just about finished and we will be submitting to Apple on Monday. This update is mainly for the iPad, which needed some UI work. We received a lot of feedback from our users on what was wrong with the old version and worked with a few of them to fix it up. A big special thanks to Jeff and Edward for that. Check out the screen shots below to see what an improvement this new version is. We'll be posting a video of the new iPad version in action later this weekend so everyone can get a chance to see it in action.

On top of a revised UI and a rewrite of a lot of the code we've also added some Copy and Paste functionality too. Now if you're looking at an equation, note or example and you want to copy it to mms to someone, email or whatever you'll now be able to. Simply go to the equation, press the new copy button and the image or text depending on what you're looking at will be stored in your clipboard. Go to another application such as Mail and paste the equation into your email. Now you can share the content of Math Ref with anyone you want. This was just one of many user requested features we're trying to tackle. You guys really are helping us make an amazing app and we can't thank you enough for it.

Speaking of feature requests, we do get a lot and have started doing a much better job of tracking them. In the coming weeks we're going to be working on the site. There will be a new section where you guys can see what we're working on and when we're planning to have it finished. It's like a Math Ref roadmap. New features, and our current errata list will go there for a little more transperancy into our update process.

We're going to be doing some testing and polishing before we submit it to the Marketplace on 1-July. We're really excited to have had the chance to work with such a great platform and we hope to get some feedback from you guys when it's available for download. There are some differences between the iPhone version and the Android version currently and we're working to make those changes for the next revision. The two differences are the Search and Favorites features. These sadly didn't make it into this version, however just like the iPhone, you can expect them in version 2. We're sorry we couldn't make these two happen, but we'll get it fixed for sure. We'll try and post a video next week showing off the app to get some initial feedback.

Now in iOS news, with the Android version completed we're back to focusing on our iPad and errata fixes. We've got a great new UI that we'll be showing off soon, as well as fixing an image bug that was causing some of the images on the iPad to use the iPhone lower resolution. This means no more blurry images on the iPad or the iPhone 4. We know we have a lot of work to do to make up for the current version for you iPad users and we're going to do our best. We'll be posting some videos of the new UI around the first or second week of July and would love some feedback before we submit to Apple.

That's all for now and thank you everyone for your support and for all the great questions and comments that we receive daily. If there's anything you'd like to say let us know by commenting below, emailing us using the form to the left or checking us out on Twitter or Facebook.

Taking in the major issues people are having with it and addressing them. First off, the equations will all be high res and will be shown in full screen. No more ugly raster issues or blurry images, just crisp clean beautiful equations. That being said, we think we have a good idea for the interface, but if any of you have comments or something you'd like to see please just let us know.

We've got some bug fixing to do as well as some new content to put in for that update, but we really hope you all enjoy the update when we get it out.

As for the Android version of the app check out the video below. We've got a bit more work to do on it, but it's pretty close to being ready for submission to the Android Marketplace.

We're also going to be sharing our roadmap with you guys so you know what to expect with each update to the app. Lastly, we've got some big news to announce regarding Math Ref for the Android OS next week. We're going to post a short video showing off some of the app. We're trying to finish up how we display the images and we think we have a great solution to distinguish it from the iPhone version. We'll be posting that on our YouTube channel and here sometime Monday of next week. Just wanted to update you all on what we're up to. The change of sections was made for two reasons. Much of last year and for a good chunk of this year Math Ref has been referred to not as a math reference application, but an education application. We were even nominated as one off the best education applications by users for 148Apps.com's yearly contest. We're going to be adding a lot of examples in the coming updates so Math Ref will become more of an educational tool than a reference tool. This brings us to the second reason for the change, and that's that we're just curious how people see Math Ref. Is it a reference app or education app, let us know what you think.

Now for the big news, we just submitted Math Ref version 2.3.1 to Apple! This update includes an amazing new interface and experience for the iPad that really takes advantage of it's large beautiful screen. Not only did we rewrite much of it to support the iPad along with the iPhone and iPod Touch in the same download, but we also managed to bring the base OS down to 3.0. This means that users with other devices, or those who haven't or can't upgrade their OS will still be able to use and update Math Ref.

There are also some smaller changes that we're very happy with. The first is that we've added an email link with in the app so users can email us with comments or suggestions without having to leave the app. This makes the commenting processes more streamlined. There's also a new settings pane too in the Settings App. Under the device Settings, you can now lock the orientation of the device. For instance, say you like to view Math Ref in portrait only and don't want anything to auto rotate, well using this new settings pane you can set portrait to your preferred orientation. Theres's some new content such as Kirchhoff's Law and the Weibull Distribution too.

This update for us was less about new content and more about under-the-hood features, hence it's only a minor update with respect to version numbers. We've got some killer new features coming up though in the next update. The first is that the notes section is going to be changing dramatically. Rather than us providing what we think are good notes, we're going to make them editable. That way you can write your own notes. You'll also be able to share the notes along with the equations on Facebook too. That along with examples for Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, the next update is going to be awesome. We're going to try and stick to a roadmap that will allow us to keep doing these smaller, faster updates.

That's all for now, as always, feel free to email us using the form to the left, or find us on Twitter and Facebook. Hope you guys like the new update when it gets approved and thanks for all the support!

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.happymaau.com/home/2010/4/19/math-ref-231-ipad-support.html"><rss:title>Math Ref 2.3.1 iPad Support</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.happymaau.com/home/2010/4/19/math-ref-231-ipad-support.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject>Math Ref</dc:subject>

With the release of the iPad we spent some time updating Math Ref for this awesome new device.
